Meet District 2 Cobb County Commissioner Erick AllenPhotos courtesy of Cobb County
PFCA hosts August 14th Town Hall, introducing newly elected commissioner to the community.
"Because the Powers Ferry Corridor is split between Districts 2 and 3, we were eager to help new District 2 Commissioner Erick Allen engage with the community," said PFCA president Tony Waybright. Allen, who was elected during an April 2025 Special Election, previously represented the 40th district in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
Speaking to an energetic crowd of approximately 75 attendees, Allen, a software engineer by trade, shared his vision for Cobb County, stating his top priorities including connecting with constituents, improving physical and environmental safety, enhancing the quality of life, focusing on workforce development, and addressing housing issues with students and the unhoused throughout District 2. A question-and-answer session followed Allen’s presentation with a more in-depth discussion related to stormwater management, the future of Town Center Mall, bus routes, progress on a pedestrian bridge crossing from the Atlanta Battery over US Highway 41, opposition to the Sterigenics plant just outside of Smyrna, and redevelopment opportunities on Atlanta Road. “Allen’s agenda supports PFCA’s mission to keep the area a great place to live and work,” said PFCA president Tony Waybright. “PFCA advocates for zoning and development that enhances the community and supports community public education. The association hosts forums such as this one, focused on improving the quality of life for residents of the Powers Ferry-Terrell Mill corridor.” Waybright added that the PFCA is looking forward to working closely with Allen to update the Powers Ferry Master Plan, a tool that has been essential in improving the quality of life in the Corridor. The updated plan will be essential to guide redevelopment of many vacant office buildings in the area and the former Kroger site. The PFCA is also focused on improving lighting along Bentley Road, as well as the continuation of its Adopt-A-Mile semi-annual Cleanups along Powers Ferry Road. We look forward to more town halls with our Cobb County district commissioners: Erick Allen of District 2 and JoAnn Birrell of District 3. Stay tuned! Speaking of improving the community's quality of life...

We were gratified to read the above headline in Dick Yarbrough's MDJ column on the town hall PFCA hosted for Erick Allen. The full piece in the MDJ is an excellent read if you can access it.

The Powers Ferry Corridor is located in parts of two Cobb County districts: District 2 and district 3.

because the Corridor is in two Cobb County districts, we work with the commissioners of both. |
