Wheeler 2024 Act Scores At Top Of Cobb Again

For 2024, Wheeler and Walton share the top ACT rank in the county and  they're in the Top 10 among public high schools in Georgia. Congratulations to the students and staff! The ACT (American College Testing) tests students in four subject areas—English, math, reading and science, and combines those to determine a composite score as well. Read the story in East Cobb News.

According to figures released by the Cobb school district, Wheeler’s composite ACT score is 26.5, up from 23.4 in 2022. Wheeler is one of four Cobb schools with composite scores over 24. The others are also in East Cobb: Walton Walton (25.8), Pope (24.5), and Lassiter (24.4).

The ACT tests students in curriculum-based English, mathematics, reading and science. The maximum score is 36.

​The 127 Wheeler students who took the ACT also turned in the highest scores in each of those subject areas in Cobb.

296 Wheeler students took the SAT this spring, producing an average score of 1,211, which tied for 10th in the state. This achievement reflects the hard work put in by the teachers and students, not only at Wheeler, but at Brumby Elementary and East Cobb Middle School, which feed the high school. Go, kids!

July 31, 2018 was a memorable day for our community as both of our incredible new schools had their ribbon cuttings. Brumby was open to the public for tours after the ceremonies. Newsweek​ ranks Wheeler High School STEM program No. 64 Nationally and best in Cobb

Honoring excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics,  Newsweek ranks Wheeler High School No. 64 out of all STEM high schools across the country. The ranking leads all Cobb high schools.

​Wheeler’s Principal, Paul Gillihan, praised his staff for the school’s continued success. “This year Wheeler is celebrating the 20th year as a STEM Magnet, during which time our graduates have gone on to amazing careers in STEM industries and beyond. Our dedicated faculty and staff have made our school one of the top STEM schools in the nation. When you give students a chance to explore, question and expand their creativity in a safe and supportive environment – you have fashioned an environment where growth, achievement, and understanding thrive.”
